On the path above the Clear Creek, just beyond the edge above, the trail plunges and then climbs quickly up again. In the count of one, two, three, four, five I can go from 15 mph to 28 mph and back to 15 again.

This year's winner of the best camouflaged, and thus most unused, bike rack goes to the one on the east side of the Iowa City Water Treatment Plant building. (This picture is enhanced so to actually see the rusted rack against the red brick wall. Otherwise, you just wouldn't know it was there...)

Things I did not take a picture of on today's early morning, beat-the-heat, day-off ride: 1. A foot wide, moss-covered, snapping turtle on the path. 2. An Iowa City police cruiser speeding down the bike path in City Park at 8:00 AM. 3. A man riding down the path towards me along the Coralville Strip, no hands on the handlebars, reading a book.
